I worked as an account manager at a securities company in Chengdu in 2016. Although I am currently studying in the United States, the securities company still retains my position. Since I started working in 2016, my clients have hundreds of people. However, as the number of customers and transactions continues to increase, so does the data. Due to the huge amount of data, I was unable to manage such a large amount of customers and could not effectively process the transaction information, which led me to gradually lose customers. This issue creates a gap of needing substantial workforce, which makes me realize I need to expertise at data processing. This inspired me to devote myself into this field. I do believe I can fulfill a great career in this field in China with the versatile ability by learning Data Analytics. At the same time, I also found that I can’t even use professional statistical and data analysis knowledge to use the relevant software to process my customer data. Therefore, I realized that I lacked the knowledge and skills in the field of data analysis. these are necessary professional knowledges and skills for me to become an entrepreneur in order to carry out my own business in the future.

Personally, I need to master data analysis skills to make me a qualified entrepreneur. Because qualified entrepreneurs have a lot of expertise, such as the ability to build and maintain customers as I mentioned before. In fact, no matter what I do, I can’t do without data, and data is everywhere. The data is not only the subject of higher education, but also has a positive impact on my study and life. For example, in my life, I will encounter some financial management and interpersonal problems. These data can help me analyze the market outlook and current situation, help me to rationally allocate my assets to get a reasonable investment. On the other hand, the control and leadership knowledge in the data can help me properly handle professional problems.

In additional, the use of knowledge in the data analysis profession allows management to coordinate the various parts of the organization to ensure the effective functioning of the organization and to adapt each component to each other. As I have seen, some companies have more advanced equipment and technology in practice. They are often at a loss and do not play their due value and role. While some companies do not have better equipment and technology, they can use scientific management to enable companies to leverage their potential to create extraordinary value. Therefore, effective management can maximize the overall functionality of the organization’s systems. In other words, effective management enables organizations to perform more than the sum of their functions. Under the same material conditions and technical conditions, the level of data management determines the level of benefit generated. All of this is why I am pursuing a graduate degree in data analysis.

With the rapid development of information technologies in recent years, the data generated from people’s daily life has experienced the exponential increase, which may contain valuable information that can be employed to enhance the development of society and promote the life quality of citizens. However, the volume of data is too large to be completed managed. I mainly deal with the relationship with customers and sort the competition data from custom and make correspondent reports. From the short working experience, I learned a lot and it might offer me the solid foundation for the life and study in Master. To begin with the networks, I have grasped how to smoothly cope with the relationship with different people. So, I believe that I can easily blend into any group researches.

There are many associations and activities in George Mason University, and I can communicate and cooperate with professors or classmates by taking part in these associations and activities. For example, I took part in an activity which was hosted by Professor John W. Warren in Fenwick Library 1014B-Instruction Room on Fairfax Campus, which named “Designing and Delivering Effective Briefings and Presentations”. In addition, I can communicate and cooperate with professors and classmates through the George Mason University’s website and academic forum. Moreover, I can discuss and cooperate with professors and classmates through special institutions such as writing center and English corner of the school.

Those experience accumulated from my past life and study brings me confidence and the comprehensive preparation for the graduate study in Data Analytics. Also, With the great passion in Data Analytics, I sincerely hope to continue to study in George Mason University due to the great education and advanced environment, and learn more deep knowledge about this filed. I believe that surprise would wait for me on the forward path as long as keeping relentless exploration.
